VW gives ID.4 & ID.5 GTX models an upgrade
VW has given the GTX models of ID.4 and ID.5 a slight upgrade. The previously optional ‘Design’ and ‘Comfort’ equipment packages are now included in the standard equipment. In return, however, the base price for both models has increased. GTX variants of the ID.3 and even the ID. Buzz are to follow.
The ID.4 GTX is now on sale in Germany at prices starting at 53,225 euros, the ID.5 GTX can be ordered from 56,455 euros – both prices are before subsidies. At the start of pre-sales of the ID.5 in November 2021, the GTX version was still offered at prices starting at 53,615 euros. The ID.4 GTX was previously offered from 50,415 euros. Both vehicles have thus become almost 2,800 euros more expensive.
There are no changes to the dual-motor drive: with the PSM on the rear axle and the additional ASM on the front axle, the system output is 220 kW, the torque in total up to 460 Nm. The electronically limited top speed is 180 km/h. The towing capacity of both GTX models is a maximum of 1,400 kilograms (at an 8 per cent gradient), 200 kilograms more than the rear-wheel drive model variants.
In both cases, a battery with 77 kWh energy content (net) is installed. This gives the ID.4 GTX a range of up to 500 kilometres according to WLTP, while the slightly more aerodynamic ID.5 GTX has a range of up to 512 kilometres. The maximum charging power for both models is 135 kW. VW states that the charging process from five to 80 per cent takes 36 minutes.
The improved basic equipment with the Design and Comfort packages includes, among other things, a climate comfort windscreen, darkened side and rear windows, heated front seats, two USB-C interfaces each at the front and rear, a variable centre console, the Air Care Climatronic air conditioning system with active combi-filter, parking climate control and dual-zone temperature control.
In addition, there are some minor adjustments to the interior that will become characteristic of the GTX models. The dashboard and door panels are now black. Red decorative stitching throughout the interior is intended to “visually emphasise the sportiness”. They can be found, for example, in the steering wheel or the optional sports seats.
