Macerich adds fast-charging with Electrify America
Macerich, an owner, operator and developer of major regional town centers in the US, is adding public ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations at 12 properties in six states through its ongoing collaboration with Electrify America.
VW’s diesel-gate subsidiary Electrify America announced the collaboration in 2019 with nine additional companies to host more than 30 fast EV charging stations across the US. More than 20 of these will be located in California with another six states being added the same year.
Now, at select Macerich properties in New Jersey, New York, California, Colorado, Virginia, and Illinois, EV drivers will henceforth have access to Electrify America’s ultra-fast charging technology, with charging speeds of up to 350kW. Macerich began installing EV charging stations in 2016 and now says that its network now includes over 330 charging stations across its portfolio of retail and mixed-use properties.
“To help electric vehicle drivers maximize their charging options while on the road, it’s important to have accessible stations where drivers want to be, near amenities like Macerich centers,” said Anthony Lambkin, senior director of operations at Electrify America. “By offering convenient ultra-fast charging stations where people are already gathering, we are meeting customers’ needs and helping build confidence in the electric future.”
