In-Tech & HeyCharge team up on charging tech
In Germany, In-Tech Smart Charging and HeyCharge have developed a new product for charging communication in buildings and underground garages. HeyCharge technology that enables charging processes without an internet connection or mobile network.
HeyCharge is a startup has already attracted some prominent supporters. In January, BMW took a stake in HeyCharge through its investment arm BMW i Ventures.
In-Tech Smart Charging and HeyCharge have created a product for indoor charging called ‘Secure Charge’. This combines the Charge Control C communication controller from In-Tech Smart Charging. The charging process can simply be activated via an app instead of using a backend system or RFID. The smartphone communicates locally with the charger via Bluetooth or NFC – and later transmits all the relevant data as soon as it is connected again, outside the underground car park.
The controller has been around for some time already. The two companies extended this with an additional plug-in circuit board. This was possible thanks to the Charge Control C feature that allows companies to easily connect specially developed hardware modules via an extension plug and have the option of adapting the software.
Customers already with In-Tech Smart Charging can now use the additional feature retrospectively because the solution also works on already produced AC charging stations with a hardware extension and a software update. Charging infrastructure manufacturers can also now integrate the solution into their chargers.
Thomas Wagner, CEO in-tech smart charging GmbH: “Even after the relatively short collaboration within the last few months, a great, highly innovative product has emerged. It makes charging easy in a previously difficult environment and provides a low-cost, convenient solution for both commercial providers and private end-users.”
Christopher Cardé, Managing Director HeyCharge GmbH: “Electrified vehicles already account for a significant share of new registrations today. Charging in the more than 1 million buildings that are eligible in Germany alone is currently becoming increasingly important. in-tech smart charging is an innovative and important partner for us to place and scale our technology in the market. Our jointly developed and integrated solution enables a fast and reliable expansion of charging infrastructure within apartment buildings and offices and helps to make electromobility a tangible experience for everyone.”
