Triton Electric Vehicle to build electric trucks in Gujarat
The US-based EV manufacturer Triton Electric Vehicle has signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a commercial electric vehicle manufacturing plant at Bhuj in Kutch district. Triton Electric Vehicle will set up the plant over 645-acre land with an annual production capacity of 50,000 trucks.
The Gujarati state government will assist in providing the necessary approvals and the registration process for the establishment of the plant. Triton Electric Vehicle will start building the plant in the current financial year. The company’s total investment is reported to be 108 billion rupees (about 1.3 billion euros). According to the initiators, the plant will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for about 10,000 people.
Triton is mainly known so far for its electric SUV, which was presented in 2020. According to their website, Traton is now also planning the above-mentioned electric semi-trucks. Not many details were released regarding the truck, apart from the sentence: “The state-of-the-art Semi Truck with 300KWh battery & Hydrogen Cell stack is our first production-ready electric vehicle”.
