Genesis to bring the GV60 to Europe this year
Genesis will offer its GV60, the Hyundai luxury brand’s first electric model based on the group’s E-GMP platform, in Europe later this year. There is no further information on prices and the start of ordering yet, but that should follow soon.

The manufacturer now officially confirms this after details on the technology and equipment of the Genesis GV60 were already published last year. In terms of technical data, the GV60 deviates slightly from the values of the two previously known E-GMP models Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 – and upwards.
“Shortly”, pre-orders for the Genesis GV60 are to start in Europe and further info on prices, the start of ordering as well as country-specific details will follow – the wishes and market experiences of the respective import companies will be taken into account for the exact compilations of the equipment.
What is certain, however, is that there will basically be three variants: The GV60 Premium, the GV60 Premium with Sport package and the GV60 Premium with Sport Plus package. This is the base model with 168 kW rear-wheel drive, the Sport package corresponds to all-wheel-drive with 160 kW at the rear and 74 kW at the front, and Sport-Plus is the most powerful version with 160 kW at the front and rear.
It is noticeable that Genesis does not position the different drive versions with up to 152 kW power difference as independent models, as was the case in the past, but as equipment packages to the base model GV60 Premium. So it wouldn’t be surprising if only the GV60 Premium is included in the BAFA list of eligible vehicles in Germany at a well-calculated price so that the two all-wheel-drive versions can also benefit from the full subsidy – officially, after all, they are then only extras of the base model that are subject to an additional charge.
However, as mentioned, Genesis does not yet specify the amount of the price or the differences between the packages. In addition, the announcement does not confirm whether the GV60 will already receive the same updates regarding route planning with preconditioning at its market launch as Hyundai recently announced for the 2023 model year of the Ioniq 5.
Update 05 May 2022
Genesis Motor UK has announced the full pricing and specification for the GV60, the brand’s first dedicated electric platform-based vehicle. Pricing starts from £47,005 for the Premium and tops out at £65,405 for the Sport Plus. In the middle stands the Sport model (160kW + 74kW all-wheel drive dual motor) with 292 miles range is priced from £53,605.
The Premium model runs on a 168kW rear-wheel drive single motor and has up to 321 miles range, while the range-topping Sport Plus model features a 289-mile range using a 360kW all-wheel-drive dual motor.
“GV60 represents a major milestone in our electrification journey. This vehicle combines premium performance and intuitive technology to provide a new generation of electric vehicle customers an electric experience without compromise,” said Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, adding: “This is the first of three electric models launching this year and GV60 is signalling the brand’s commitment towards full electrification by 2025.”
