Charging lottery in the UK

New research released by British Gas reveals there is a postcode lottery when it comes to electric vehicle charging costs. There are 21 councils across England and Wales, where it is completely free to charge EVs using council-owned public chargers.

However, for each free charger, there are drivers in other areas who are charged up to £4.00 for every kilowatt-hour. Furthermore, there is a north-south divide in charging prices, as an analysis of over 400 council charging lots showed “that drivers in the South are being charged over a quarter (28%) more than those in the North to top-up their electric cars using the cheapest council owned chargers.”
