TDS orders 10 BYD e-trucks in the Netherlands

BYD has been given an order for the delivery of ten ETM6 electric trucks from Top Delivery Services (TDS). The vehicles will be used in logistics for Ikea in Amsterdam. The deal was made through BYD’s newly appointed electric truck dealer Bluekens EV.

Top Delivery Services is a joint venture of logistics service providers (Holwerda Transport, Transportbedrijf P.A. van Rooyen and Brakenhoff Transport), whose customers in Amsterdam include Ikea. In view of the furniture chain’s fleet electrification goals, TDS has now ordered the ten electric 7.5-tonne trucks from BYD via the Dutch dealer Bluekens EV.

Bluekens EV will also provide after-sales services for TDS in connection with the purchase of the electric trucks, including customer service and maintenance, and support the company with a fleet management solution. The two companies also discussed an “intelligent solution for the charging infrastructure” in advance. In the course of this, among other things, a charging system was developed at a TDS location that uses surplus solar energy for charging.

BYD recently appointed Bluekens EV as the first dealer in the Netherlands for its all-electric trucks and vans. The company is a subsidiary of the Bluekens Group and is to take over the sales and after-sales service for BYD electric transport vehicles up to twelve tonnes in the Netherlands. When the cooperation was announced at the end of October, it was already said that Bluekens EV would develop a 360-degree approach to BYD’s vehicle sales and aftersales, and offer services such as charging, fleet management and leasing solutions.

Bluekens Group and BYD have been working together since 2007. Initially, this involved the Chinese company’s electric bus range. BYD said that the appointment of Bluekens EV as BYD’s sales and service partner for trucks and vans is based on proven synergies and shared values. The partnership is not expected to be limited to the ETM6 eTruck, but will also include other BYD models. On the BYD Europe website, the ETP3, an electric transporter, and the EYT, a tractor, are also listed as transport vehicles.

The ETM6 eTruck is a 7.5-tonne truck with an iron-phosphate battery on board. BYD says this has a maximum range of 200 kilometres with a full load.
