Electric vehicles are a heavy business
The GMC Hummer EV, unveiled in early April, will apparently be the heaviest electric car yet. GMC has already confirmed the reports that the electric SUV weighs in at a whopping 9,046 pounds or 4,103 kilograms.
While the new Hummer EV certainly will be posing new questions regarding weight, a heavy EV can source more power via braking than a traditional ICE, however more weight also requires more power to get rolling. Which direction this trend continues in will be interesting to note, although people purchasing a Hummer traditionally do so because they want an obnoxiously large vehicle.
