Storedot: Battery testing on the ISS space station

Israel’s battery developer StoreDot wants to improve its fast-charging batteries in space. To do so, the company struck an agreement with NASA and the Israeli Electric Company for the first space-based battery research initiative.

Up far above the earth’s atmosphere, the partners plan to develop lithium-ion battery technology, as well as StoreDot’s ‘five-minute charging’. Specifically, the initiative will be part of the Israel Space Agency and The Ramon Foundation’s pioneering RAKIA mission to the International Space Station in February 2022. StoreDot’s XFC technology will undergo two weeks of rigorous testing in zero gravity conditions.
