Jaguar adds special edition I-Pace to UK lineup
Jaguar has expanded the I-Pace range in the UK with new Black special editions. Starting at prices from £72,445, the new I-Pace variant impresses with privacy glass and new panoramic roofing.
The new designs are based on the SE and HSE equipment lines. To differentiate, the two Black editions build on the standard specification of those trims with a ‘Black Pack’, panoramic roof and privacy glass. They are available to order now and priced from £72,445 for the I-Pace Black and £76,695 for the I-Pace HSE Black.
Performance is unchanged from the basic editions, with a 90kWh battery delivering 400PS and 696Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.8s). The range allows for up to 292 miles (WLTP) on a single battery charge and the vehicle can charge up to 33 miles of range (WLTP) per hour using an 11kW AC wall box and three-phase supply. A full charge on the 11 kW wall box charger takes only 8.6 hours, while drivers using a single-phase 7kW wall box will have to wait 12.75 hours for a full charge.
“Creating the exclusive I-PACE Black gave us the opportunity to subtly enhance the design, making it look even more dynamic, distinctive and desirable,” said Julian Thomson, Jaguar’s Design Director.
The expansion of the model lineup in their home market comes at an interesting time, as Jaguar has been working hard to diversify their model. Not only is the Indian-owned, British automobile company launching the I-Pace in India this year, but we also saw a first-responder version of the electric SUV a few weeks ago.
While Jaguar had some battery issues to iron out in the first editions of the I-Pace, production scaling at Castle Bromwich should be well underway. It is still unclear when the EV production facility will be ready, but JLR plans to manufacture their next BEV, the J-Pace, there alongside an electric Road Rover.
