Twitter users tell Musk to plant trees
Elon Musk offers prize money to reinvent trees: Elon Musk has decided to address the challenge of how to remove and capture existing CO2 from the atmosphere with prize money.
Indeed, money does not grow on trees, but they do capture carbon. In a tweet, Musk promised prize money of 100 million US dollars for the development of the best “carbon capture” technology, i.e. the best process for binding the greenhouse gas CO2. The most common response was that he should donate towards tree planting ..as he did in October last year.
Now that Musk is officially the richest person on the planet since Tesla is now one of the highest-valued companies on the planet, he is under increased feeling the pressure to use his billions to save the planet.
Musk recently surpassed Amazon’s Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest person saying only that “details will come next week.” TechCrunch has now reported that a person familiar with the plan says that this will be connected to Xprize Foundation, the non-profit organisation that host competitions aimed at encouraging technological development and innovation.
The best thing that has come to light as a result of the lively Twitter discussion has been more focus on the importance of trees (in combination with ceasing the burning of fossil fuels). Luckily, you don’t need to be a billionaire to plant or fund trees – or to stop burning fossil fuels.
