Universally applicable vehicle charging inlets CHARX connect for HPC charging up to 500 kW
The change in mobility poses new challenges for the automotive industry as well as for the commercial vehicle, passenger and transport industries. Regulations in the form of environmental zones or CO2 emission balances make the changeover from combustion engines to battery-electric drives absolutely necessary.
When electrifying passenger cars, commercial and special vehicles, the suitability for everyday use is crucial. The shortest possible charging times are particularly relevant for commercial and special vehicles that are used in closely timed cycles. With the CCS vehicle charging inlets CHARX connect from Phoenix Contact, electric vehicles can be charged ultra-fast on the vehicle side for the first time.
Ultra-fast High Power Charging
With the new CCS charging inlets, Phoenix Contact now offers manufacturers and retrofitters of electric vehicles up to e-commercial vehicles powerful components in the field of charging technology, tested according to automotive standards. This means that DC fast charging up to High Power Charging is now also possible on the vehicle side. The DC cable cross-section of up to 95 mm² of the CCS vehicle charging inlets temporarily allows charging currents of up to 500 kW.
Precise temperature sensors
The ingenious connection technology between the power contacts and high-voltage cables minimizes the heating of the connector system. In addition, the integrated temperature sensors ensure a fast and exact evaluation of the temperature at the DC power contacts. This evaluation is the basis for the dynamic charging profiles to regulate the charging current. Overheating is thereby excluded. Thanks to the high charging power, which can be gradually reduced by precise measurement, vehicle batteries can be almost completely charged within a few minutes. Thanks to the precise measurement system, active cooling of the charging interface in the vehicle is not necessary.
Easy to design-in
The outer dimensions and screw-on geometries of the vehicle inlets are extremely compact and identical for both the CCS Type 1 and CCS Type 2 standards. This means that manufacturers and retrofitters can plan the same installation space for the charging inlets in their vehicles for worldwide use. In addition to integrated temperature sensors, the CCS inlets CHARX connect from Phoenix Contact also feature a locking actuator, connected HV and NV cables, and dust protection caps. The pre-assembled delivery thus enables direct integration into the HV on-board network of the vehicle.
