Mahindra improves development process with Dassault Systèmes
At the 3DEXPERIENCE Conference 2020 in India, Dassault Systèmes announced their contribution to Mahindra’s development process: Using their Simulia applications, the Indian vehicle manufacturer was able to reduce costs, improve fuel efficiency, and to bring their vehicles to market more quickly.
The company presented several development solutions that can be used in a variety of development processes. The applications include Simulia PowerFLOW Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solutions, Simulia Abaqus Unified FEA and Simulia CST Studio Suite. The company then underlined that Mahindra & Mahindra used these solutions to transform its vehicle design process. This apparently improved efficiency across the product development lifecycle for its entire portfolio of passenger vehicles, farm and tractor division, and electric vehicles.
“Our long-term partner, Dassault Systemes, and a digital simulation-based approach are valuable in this regard, allowing for upfront simulation at the early-design stage when there is more flexibility for change,” says Sitarameswara Sarma Akella, vice-president- Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra. “Further in the product development process, the realistic simulation solutions are used for virtual validation, giving us higher confidence before a regulatory test. Our R&D centres in India and the US extensively used Dassault’s simulation technologies on the cloud, enabling remote collaboration on important projects during the pandemic.”
