Jaguar I-Pace becomes available in India
Jaguar India has opened the bookings for its all-electric SUV I-Pace. Deliveries of the car in India are expected to begin from March 2021.
While Jaguar Land Rover has not disclosed pricing for the only all-electric Jaguar at this stage, it is likely to be upwards of Rs 5 lakh given that the car is expected to cost nearly a crore. That is well over 110,000 euros at the current rupee value.
In India, the Jaguar I-Pace will be offered in three variants, S, SE and HSE. A 90kWh Li-ion battery powers the two electric motors for 400hp of power and 696Nm. 0-100kmph is possible in a claimed 4.8 seconds whereas the electric car will do 480km on a single charge.
The automaker will provide the 7.4kW AC wall-mounted charger free of cost with the vehicle. That is one grade down from the new 11-kW onboard charger Jaguar provides in other markets since the latest I-Pace upgrade last June. Slow charging takes up to 13 hours.
Jaguar Land Rover India has partnered with Tata Power to provide charging solutions to I-Pace customers. Tata Power has installed over 200 charging points across India as part of its ‘EZ Charge’ EV charging network. It comprises of more than 200 charging points, and I-Pace customers will have access to the entire network. Tata Power plans to expand the network to 700 charge points before the year’s end reportedly.
The Jaguar I-Pace as a luxury electric car won’t have much competition in India with the closest rival being the Mercedes EQC. Daimler announced the start of sales this October, then outspokenly positioning the EV as premium as reported.
