VW wallboxes affected by software issues

Software problems with the VW ID.3 have been reported extensively over the past months. Now, according to information from Focus Online and efahrer.com, there are also problems with the VW wallbox: several hundred copies of the ID. Chargers have to be reprogrammed.

The problems started with a Smart driver, who was attempting to charge his vehicle and found it was severely limited: Only single phase charging was possible and the maximum charge capacity was limited to 4 kW. Volkswagen has reacted and maintains that the problem is not a safety issue, however to charge at full capacity, users are required to exchange their ID Wallbox for a new one.
