BYD delivers 33 electric buses to Barbados
BYD has delivered the first fleet of electric buses for public transport to Barbados. On the island state, 33 battery-electric buses are now operating under the direction of the Barbados Transport Board. Two more will follow by December.
The delivery involves nine-meter-long solo buses from the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer. According to BYD, they have been specially adapted with a view to the market in Barbados.
To coordinate the project, BYD says it has appointed Megapower Ltd as its local representative in Barbados. This company is working with BYD and the Barbados Transport Board on the realisation of the project. The delivery of the electric buses is an important stage in the Barbados climate protection plan, which sets a target of 100 per cent renewable energy and CO2 neutrality by 2030.
