Polestar 2 deliveries in Europe start ahead of schedule
Polestar has started deliveries of the Polestar 2 earlier than planned. The first European customer vehicle has now been handed over at the company’s headquarters in Gothenburg, which is ahead of schedule and was not supposed to take place until August.
The first Swedish customers will be joined by the first customers from Norway in the first week of August. After that, customers in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Great Britain will receive their cars. When the first customer vehicles arrived in Belgium by ship at the end of June, the company said deliveries would start in August. Now the first vehicles have already been handed over to customers in July.
Polestar delivered the first Polestar 2 to the first European customer at its global headquarters in Gothenburg. Polestar’s press release cited one of their happy customers: “I ordered my Polestar 2 on launch day,” said the new Polestar 2 owner Sture Stensson upon receiving his new car. “This is my first electric vehicle and I have mounted solar panels on the roof for easy charging at home,” he said.
Fourteen Polestar Spaces are now open across China, Europe and North America and the Swedish company is planning another 50 before the end of 2020. In May, Polestar announced the opening of new Polestar Spaces in the USA. At the end of last year, Polestar revealed prices for the Polestar 2 in Europe and the UK. Deliveries in Germany are scheduled to start in August when the first Polestar Space in Germany is due to open in Düsseldorf. Customers will be advised and offered test drives at the Spaces. These services will be carried out by non-commissioned Polestar specialists with the sole task of assisting customers. Just like Tesla, Polestar will conclude all purchases digitally, which customers can do at home or with assistance at one of the Polestar Spaces.
Polestar has also announced the company’s first retail partners in the Canadian market. In collaboration with the leading automotive retail groups Grand Touring Automobiles and GAIN Group, three Polestar Spaces will open in the second half of 2020 in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, with additional Authorized Polestar Service Centres in Victoria, B.C. and Waterloo, Ontario.
“95 per cent of Canadian Polestar owners and reservation holders live within the 240-kilometre home delivery range of these Polestar retail Spaces,” said Hugues Bissonnette, Head of Polestar Canada. “With this coverage, plus the two additional service centres, we are confident that the Canadian market will be well-supported from day one.”
