UK has double the EV chargers over fuel pumps
According to official figures, there were just under 18,000 public charging points in the UK on 1 April 2020. This means that there are now more than twice as many charging facilities for electric cars on the island as there are petrol stations (just over 8,000).
This success undoubtedly has much to do with the position taken by the British government and various city councils. From measures such as the new electric car licence plates, to congestion charges which helped alleviate pollution in London, the measures are effectively transforming the UK’s transportation base. The intense cooperation and support for charging concepts to help provide charging possibilities for residents of tightly packed urban areas, such as pop-up chargers, have also proven effective.
To note: the UK’s number of charging stations surpassed their fuel stations last summer.
