Elon Musk has enough of staying (and having a) home
Elon Musk has again made statements about Covid-19 restriction that have caused an uproar. The latest comments included saying that stay-at-home orders were “fascist” as well as writing “free America now” in all-caps on Twitter.
Other “enlightened” ideas include “I am selling almost all physical possessions. Will own no house.” so that we are not the only ones wondering, what has gotten into the Tesla boss.
However, the comments come after a long line of public statements Musk has made about Covid-19 regarding possible treatment, restrictions and erroneous predictions of US case numbers. In mid-March, he predicted there would be few US cases by the end of April. Now, on the 30 April, there are about 25,000 new cases confirmed every day.
Given the serious nature of the topic, one should not perhaps turn to humour, but the Twitter response to his “free America” plea is quite funny and rather revealing. Whether one listens to qualified and relevant health experts or a carmaker with a strong urge to reopen factories, the Corona crisis shows a country in trouble.
