Solaris receives new orders from Spain
The Polish bus manufacturer Solaris has secured further orders for buses with alternative drive systems in Spain. In order to be able to handle the increasing number of orders, the Polish company has, according to its own statements, expanded its service network in Spain in recent weeks.
In addition to the 14 all-electric articulated buses for the operator TMB in Barcelona, Solaris has received an order from the operator Tusgsal, based in nearby Badalona, for eleven Urbino Hybrid 18-metre buses, which are to be delivered this year. In addition, the Polish manufacturer will deliver 12-metre hybrid buses to the private operator Avanza from the city of Elche in eastern Spain.
As Solaris writes, interest in hybrid, natural gas and electric buses is steadily increasing in Spain. “What is crucial is that 90% of orders secured by Solaris this year concern buses with alternative drives,” says Kepa Mendikute, Managing Director of Solaris Bus Ibérica. “One third of these are vehicles featuring exclusively electric drives.”
To better serve the orders received, Solaris Bus Ibérica has also significantly expanded its service network in recent weeks. In Spain and Portugal, 100 additional workshops will now be able to service Solaris vehicles.
