Nikkei finds Tesla 6 years ahead

Many ‘tear-downs’ have already shown that Tesla has a lead of years in electric drive and battery technology. Now the Japanese business paper Nikkei has also had the Tesla Model 3 dismantled.

The report shows they are particularly impressed by the central processing unit for future autonomous driving, which Tesla calls the ‘Full Self-Driving Computer’ (FSD or Hardware 3). Tesla has a six-year lead in AI and electronics over traditional carmakers like Toyota or VW, concludes the paper.
