The Anti- Handbook Handbook from Tesla
A Tesla handbook for its employees – called The Anti-Handbook Handbook – shows that the electric car manufacturer communicates the company rules for its employees in a straight-forward, informal and unapologetic manner.
Starting off with a little hyperbole, the Anti-Handbook states: “We’re Telsa. We’re changing the world.” However, the very next words are: “We’re willing to rethink everything.”
The company appears to expect initiative from its employees, and it would seem that moving beyond typical hyrachies is encouraged and expected: “If you see opportunities to improve the way we do things, speak up even if these are outside your area of responsibility. Your good ideas mean nothing if you keep them to yourself”
“Anyone at Tesla can and should email or talk to anyone else according to what they think is the fastest way to solve a problem for the benefit of the whole company.”
Sounds like a company in a fast-changing, disruptive industry, dependent on keeping good ideas flowing.
