Autonomous shopping trolley hits the store
Piaggio has released an autonomous electric grocery robot that can carry up to 18 kg and follows its owner autonomously at speeds up to 10 km/h. So far Gita, as the robot is called, is only available in the USA.
The robot provides an interesting notion regarding the ways mobility technology can be used to enhance our lives. It is not difficult to imagine autonomous steering capabilities on a wheel chair for example, and remote control baby prams have also been a thing, however this is the first instance that such a technology has been presented with such a varied intended field of use.
