Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV hits UK market
Mitsubishi’s new Outlander PHEV Reflex commercial vehicle has gone on sale in the UK. The 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Reflex Commercial is also eligible for the UK government’s Plug-In Van Grant, a discount of £7,642, resulting in an on-the-road CV price of £24,298 (excluding VAT).
The vehicle has a maximum payload of 500 kg, with a fuel economy figure of 139.7 mpg and an EV range of 28 miles, which enabled the PHEV to receive the coveted ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) bonus in the UK. CO2 emissions are rated at 40g/km. The vehicle uses the same technology and powertrain as the passenger version of the Outlander PHEV, meaning a 2.4 litre petrol engine is combined with two electric axle motors and a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery.
Compared to last years version, the 2020 Outlander PHEV commercial vehicle features improved fuel economy but no major range or technological improvements. The development focus seems to have been more directed towards creating a vehicle that can move in a zero-emissions environment, but also hit the highway if needed. As Mitsubishi puts it in their press release, their vehicle offers British businesses “the benefits of an ultra-low emissions vehicle for deliveries in urban areas and ULEV zones combined with the ability to cover longer distances non-stop when required.”
