FAW-VW make preparations to produce e-tron in China
Starting next year, the Audi e-tron will be produced for the Chinese market by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture at the Changchun plant. Between 45,000 and 50,000 units per year are planned. Another Audi electric model to be produced in China is the e-tron Sportback.
This is the conclusion of a media report from China. While the electric car is to roll off the assembly line in Changchun in the north-east, the production plans for the e-tron Sportback, which have not yet been specified, envisage production at the plant in Foshan in the south-eastern province of Guangdong.
The first purely electric car of the Ingolstadt-based company in the Middle Kingdom is the Q2 L e-tron. The construction of the Audi electric car will also be realized with the help of China’s Volkswagen partner FAW. The fact that the Audi e-tron quattro will also be produced in China from next year was already leaked to Auto Shanghai. However, it was unclear so far where and in what quantities the E-SUV will roll off the assembly line.
Meanwhile, it also became known that the production version of the Audi e-tron Sportback will celebrate its premiere in the USA on 19 November – at the Los Angeles Auto Show. For the European market, the model will be manufactured in Brussels like the classic e-tron quattro, starting in 2020.
