Mercedes gets burned on social media
After a message claiming that “If this summer wasn’t hot enough for you, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic will turn the heat up”, many criticized the company for the environmental implications of the slogan.
Mercedes quickly back-pedalled, and apologised for the tone-deaf tweet as well as referring to their Ambition 2039 plan, by when they aim to have a completely CO2 neutral lineup.
They may want to work on reading the room before continuing their social media campaign, particularly as online audiences are swift in voicing their displeasure, as the German CDU party recently learned when tweeting misleading information about EV sales.
