Not everybody tolerates creaky German bureaucracy
After hearing about Tesla customers suffering unnecessarily long waiting times for vehicle registration in Berlin and Hamburg, Tesla boss Elon Musk simply called the cities’ mayors.
Berlin mayor Michael Müller and Hamburg’s mayor Peter Tschentscher apparently got an earful of the US entrepreneur’s mind when he got on the blower. While he was at it, Elon Musk called President of France Emmanuel Macron with the same complaint about French vehicle registration delays.
As it turns out, Hamburg, in particular, is indeed slipping its administrative performance taking up to 15 days for administrative processes that generally should take no more than two. Vehicle registration offices in the coastal German city have unusually high rates of employee sickness days, but whatever the problem there, Musk has insisted it get solved, chop-chop!
