Darling, Tesla has soiled herself again
In 2018 109 babies born in the USA were named Tesla, most of them girls. Other names shared with car brands were Bentley (3,393 babies), Ford (419), Mercedes (236), Chevy (176), Lexus (40), Audi (18) and Dodge (15). Some kid even got named Pontiac Aztek this year, and 551 little blighters got called Edison.
As it turns out, fewer kids were called Tesla in 2018 than the year before, when 143 were named given the name – which is in fact girl’s name of Slavic, Serbian, Croatian origin meaning “from Thessaly”. Mercedes was a woman’s name long, long before became a brand name, but world’s first car was also named after the brave Berta Benz, who was partner and wife of automobile inventor Karl Benz. In 1888, Berta was the first person to drive an automobile over a long distance.
