Sono Motors reaches 10,000 Sion reservations
More than a year before the production launch of their Sion solar electric car, Sono Motors has already received 10,000 pre-paid reservations throughout Europe. This means that the number of potential buyers has doubled since June last year.
Around 87 per cent of these reservations are made in the DACH region, with a total of more than 20 countries worldwide. The vast majority of these potential buyers are private individuals and non-commercial customers or sales partners.
“In preordering the Sion, ten thousand people have made a clear commitment to climate-friendly and sustainable mobility,” says Jona Christians, CEO and founder of Sono Motors. “A desire for responsibility toward the environment unites us with all these people. We believe in a world in which every vehicle is powered electrically and is shared. This is the vision that drives us”.
The car is manufactured by the SAAB successor company National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) in Sweden. Production will be based exclusively on renewable energy and is scheduled to start in the second half of 2020. In total, 260,000 vehicles will initially roll off the production line at the former Saab plant over a period of eight years.
At the market launch, the Sion will be available in just one version at a price of 25,500 euros. The solar electric car will be delivered ex works with the sharing option. Further vehicle models on the vehicle’s platform are planned.
