Brabus presents tuned Smart EQ Fortwo Cabrio
At the Geneva Motor Show, the tuning forge Brabus is presenting the Ultimate E Shadow Edition, an electric compact car based on the Smart EQ Fortwo Cabrio with a 68 kW power boost. The very a limited edition of 28 units is up for sale starting at 64,900 Euro.
While the price sounds a little steep for a converted Smart, Brabus markets their battery electric vehicle as a “dinghy” to the new Brabus 500 sports boat. The little car has numerous parallels in design to its counterpart on the water. It has the same Gunmetal Grey paintwork and the same combination of red leather and Silvertex fabric in the cockpit. The front and rear axle widenings are particularly eye-catching. According to the tuning experts, they create space for 18-inch wheels with low-profile tyres, which are unusual for an electric car of this size.
The production model of the Smart EQ Fortwo Cabrio features 60 kW performance capacity. Thanks to Brabus’s upgrade to 68 kW, the tuned two-seater now accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds. The top speed remains at 130 km/h. Brabus specifies a range of “up to 125 km, depending on driving style”.
This is not the first time that the tuning company has given an electric Smart more power and a new look. Brabus already presented the Ultimate E Concept at the IAA in Frankfurt in 2017. However, this model was equipped with a 150 kW electric motor and a 22 kWh battery from Kreisel Electric.
