Iridium presents new fully electric camper

As announced, the Iridium brand presented the first market-ready motorhome with all-electric drive at the CMT travel trade fair in Stuttgart and revealed further technical details. Orders have already been accepted and the first deliveries are scheduled for July or August.

While Iridium was previously considered a guarantor for high-quality premium motorhomes, WOF GmbH, based in Baden-Württemberg, is now announcing that it will develop Iridium into the first motorhome brand to offer exclusively electric motorhomes. The presented example gives an outlook on the future assortment of the German company.

Iridium offers its first electric motorhome with two different superstructures in order to take different customer interests into account. Both variations are based on the same chassis, which is “the best-selling chassis for motorhomes”, as WOF explains. The Swiss company Maurer Fahrzeugbau has contributed the body of the first variant, which can be manufactured according to individual customer wishes. The second variant is identical in construction to WOF’s model BELA P69 and therefore has a specified interior. According to the manufacturer, the corresponding Iridium model with electric drive is available from 169,000 euros.

Both model variants have a length of almost seven metres, a width of around 2.30 metres, a height of around three metres and a gross vehicle weight of around four tonnes. The drive train and battery are provided by ElektroFahrzeuge Stuttgart from Stuttgart (EFA-S). Thanks to a battery capacity of 106 kWh, the motorhomes are expected to have a range of up to 300 km. Chargers integrated into the vehicles also enable flexible charging – either with the standard plug (type 2) and charging capacities between 3.6 and 22 kW or via CCS plug with up to 100 kW in future.

WOF GmbH is a medium-sized company that has been selling mobile homes throughout Europe since 2012. The company offers copies of the Iridium brand via the EMR mobile home dealer in Weilheim a.d. Teck. According to WOF, a network of further dealers is currently being set up.
