Think you’ve seen it all? Try an electric surfboard.
The Chinese company Waydoo is advertising an electric surfboard, the Waydoo Flyer, that can propel riders across the water at 35 km/h. While muscle-bound surfers may scoff, it really looks like a lot of fun if you have a little cash to spare.
The motor has an output of 6,000 watts and a 1.7 kWh battery should provide up to 40 to 60 minutes of water cruising on one 2-hour charge of its 18650 lithium-ion battery pack.
Now nobody has to wait for perfect surfing conditions – with an electric surfboard under arm any body of water will do. The board weighs 25 kg (55 lb), can accommodate riders weighing up to 120 kg (265 lb)
The prototype is now on show at the CES in Las Vegas and should be available to the public in March for around 4,999 US dollars (roughly 4,340 euros)
