Walmart Canada orders 30 Tesla Semis
Walmart Canada has ordered another 30 electric Semi trucks from Tesla. 15 of the electric trucks had been ordered in November 2017, ten of which were destined for Canada, and five for the US.
The first 20 Semi of the Canadian subsidiary will be used in Ontario, while another twenty will find use in the Walmart distribution centre in British Columbia, which will be opened in 2022. The exact delivery dates were not set yet, however we do know that Walmart Canada plans to electrify 20% of their fleet by 2022.
Since Spring, news regarding the Tesla Semi has become somewhat scarce. Elon Musk’s tweet about the first official use to transport battery packs from the Gigafactory 1 to the Fremont facility about 400km away is now half a year ago. The production start for the vehicle is scheduled for 2019, and pre-orders have been piling up.
