Even autopilot can’t save a drunk
A Tesla Model S crashed into a fire truck in San Jose, injuring two people. The driver insisted that he thought the vehicle was on autopilot, and was subsequently arrested under the suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
While autopilot seems like it would make sense under the circumstances, it would have been wise to actually turn the thing on. This also marks the third fire truck his by a Tesla this year, which makes us question whether the autopilot has trouble with colour blindness.
We would also like to take this moment to unequivocally condemn drunk driving. No matter how good the autopilot currently is, a human driver is still legally required to oversee the vehicle in action.
