Mobile filling station for FCEV using liquid hydrogen
This is a new approach to refilling fuel cell electric vehicles coming from Korea’s Hylium Industries, They developed a mobile refueling station carrying liquid hydrogen rather than the gaseous and explosive form.
Hylium Industries invention is essentially a five-ton truck equipped with a liquid hydrogen pump, vaporizer, and dispenser. It can store up to 7,500 liters of low-pressure (3 bar) liquid hydrogen and is capable of filling up to 100 hydrogen-powered cars per day, according to the firm.
It uses a 900bar liquid hydrogen pump system, which eliminates the need for a compressor and cooling system and thus allows for reductions in equipment and driving costs.
No details on commercialisation have been released but Hylium Industries and the K-ICT Born2Global Centre, which supports technology companies in their efforts to enter global markets, expressed they had high hopes for this mobile H2 pit stop to accelerate the fuel cell vehicle and hydrogen industry.
