ChargePoint takes over software specialist Kisensum
Charging technology specialist ChargePoint has purchased Kisensum, acquiring an expert in the development of software solutions in the energy sector. The company will continue to exist as a unit after the acquisition, confirmed by ChargePoint.
Kisensum will continue to operate from their current location in Oakland, California. The team will also continue to work on the development and deployment of fleet and energy management solutions, as well as continue to honor their current customers and pilot projects. The purchase price was not revealed.
ChargePoint is one of the largest companies active in the charging infrastructure sector. According to their own statements, the Silicon Valley based company is currently undergoing the most “aggressive growth phase in their ten-year history”. The company counts more than 51,000 charging stations currently operational and thousands of customers, including private companies, cities and service providers.
Under one roof, ChargePoint is developing and producing hardware and software solutions for charging infrastructure. With the acquisition of Kisensum, the company is further planning to serve the e-mobility market and take a pro-active approach to the increasingly important fleet management systems. In a statement, ChargePoint chief strategist Simon Lonsdale said that Kisensum has the most versatile software platform.
Specifically, ChargePoint plans to develop individual solutions for charging infrastructure, as well as integrate the cloud solutions from Kisensum. The service will be easily integrated into current charging platforms, and will allow customers to easily manage and optimize the grid connections, the local production of renewable energy and energy storage.
