LG Chem to supply hundreds of millions of cells to BMZ

BMZ, a battery assembly specialist in Germany, has made a deal with Korea’s LG Chem over the delivery of a couple hundreds of million of cells throughout 2022. The German supplier wants to secure its own supply in order to fulfill its obligations with makers of all sorts of (light) electric vehicles.

BMZ has advanced from an assembly for mainly batteries for electric bicycles to a supplier for all sorts of electric vehicles, including not only pedelecs but electric buses, forklifts and the like.

Their deal with LG Chem builds on an existing cooperation that has just become more firm. Both companies agreed that their collaboration is vital for their continuing growth in the Li-ion battery market in Europe.
