Samsung & Webasto to jointly make high-voltage batteries
Samsung SDI and Webasto have signed a letter of intent to build high voltage batteries together for the commercial vehicle sector. Samsung is to develop a battery module using its prismatic battery cells for Webasto to integrate.
Webasto already offers battery packs for commercial vehicles which again can be packed together to serve various systems. The cooperation between the German and the Korean company aims to offer customised battery systems to manufacturers of commercial vehicles.
The letter of intent was signed by representatives from both companies at the Webasto HQ in Stockdorf. The collaboration in the manufacture of high voltage batteries for the commercial vehicle sector covers the development and supply of a Samsung SDI’s battery module as the solution for Webasto’s standard multi-pack concept for commercial vehicles.
