PSA to produce compact electric cars in Slovakia
PSA is planning to begin manufacturing electric cars in Trnava, Slovakia, as was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show by Chairman of the managing board Carlos Tavares. This includes the building of the Peugeot 208 and its EV variant.
The factory in Trnava is being prepared to host to the CMP platform designed to produce compacts and small vehicles. It allows for the construction of both electric vehicles and combustion engine models on the same production line.
“The production of compact electric cars for the PSA Groupe depends on the CMP platform. I can confirm that we will install this platform in Trnava,” Taverer told the Slovak Spectator in an interview in Geneva.
The Slovak factory will be home for the construction of the Peugeot 208, for which PSA has already announced an electric version, which is scheduled to be available next year.
