Bentley releasing PHEV version of the Bentayga
Bentley has introduced a hybrid version of its first SUV called Bentayga. The model’s PHEV powertrain combines a V6 petrol engine with an electric motor, the latter enabling the common electric range of 50km.
The launch in “selected markets” is scheduled for the second half of 2018, after its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week.
While the details regarding the interior workings of the car remain scarce, it has been revealed that the powertrain will have different modes, including EV Drive, Hybrid, and Hold Mode, and power routing can be monitored via an infotainment system. It also reserves power for city travel, where stop and go would otherwise force higher fuel consumption. Details regarding the battery have also not been announced, however the charge duration of 2.5 hrs from a charging station, or about 7.5 hrs when plugged into a regular electric outlet.
