15 electric buses by Irizar take to the streets of Madrid
A fleet of 15 electric buses has arrived in the Spanish capital together with charging infrastructure. Built by Irizar, the 12 metre vehicles serve on three lines in Madrid and charge at the depot overnight.
The 15 electric buses and as many charging stations were expected to arrive last December but even with a delay, they are now in service as planned. They are now serving route 1, 26 and 44 in Madrid.
Each electric bus can carry 76 people and has a range of more than 200 kilometres on one charge. Irizar also delivered charging equipment so that the EVs may rejoice at the depot at night.
The vehicle features the Eco Assist system, which helps the driver with driving optimisation in real time.
