Scania teams up with Haylion in China to develop EVs
Volkswagen’s Scania has joint Haylion to develop autonomous and electrified vehicles. Haylion Technologies focuses on solutions for the Chinese transport industry and the common aim is to commercialise autonomous vehicles and sustainable transport.
Scania and Haylion Technologies entered into a partnership in order to build and market mainly electrified and autonomous vehicles as well to look into buses together.
Software for the latter is Haylion’s speciality. A whole team focuses on developing solutions for public transport by electrified, autonomous and connected buses. Already, Haylion is conducting trials with intelligent buses on public roads together with the Shenzhen Bus Group in China.
The partnership with Scania is hoped to “accelerate China’s development of intelligent vehicles and the Internet of Vehicle (IoV),” according to Dr. Jimmy Hu Jianping, founder and Chairman of Haylion Technologies.
For Scania, it is the second cooperation in the field of electrified transport in short succession. Northvolt had agreed to build batteries for heavy duty EVs for the commercial vehicle specialist a few days ago (we reported).
