Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi sells over half a million EVs
Since 2010, the Alliance of Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi have accumulated 540,623 electric vehicle sales worldwide. The Nissan LEAF remains the world’s best-selling EV with more than 300,000 pure EVs sold since its launch in December 2010.
And it looks like the story continues. Nissan unveiled the new Leaf late last year and has received over 40,000 orders globally including 13,000 orders in Japan; 13,000 reservations in the United States; and over 12,000 orders in Europe.
Meanwhile, Renault claims the top position for EV sales in Europe for the third consecutive year, with a market share of 23.8 percent and sales volumes increased by 38 percent. Renault’s bestselling ZOE alone managed to rise sales in Europe once more by 44 percent.
Overall, Renault has sold more than 150,000 electric vehicles worldwide, including the Kangoo Z.E., Fluence Z.E. and Renault Samsung Motors SM3 Z.E. since 2011. Together, the Alliance of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi sold 91,000 EVs throughout 2017, up more than 11 percent to 2016.
