Volkswagen installs hundreds of chargers at its sites
The German carmaker wants to erect more than 200 charging points and wall boxes at parking areas around its main facility in Wolfsburg until April. 24 units of them have been already put into operation. Also other VW sites are currently expanding their charging infrastructure.
In Wolfsburg, the new stations provide green energy for employees as well as external EV drivers. Parking spaces equipped with stations or wall boxes are reserved to EVs, however, charging is just possible with a Charge & Fuel Card by VW or the related mobile app.
Well, Wolfsburg is not the only site to step up efforts to encourage VW employees to drive EVs: The Gläserne Manufaktur (‘Transparent Factory’) in Dresden expands its charging infrastructure from currently 10 to 40 points. The group’s Emden plant doubles the amount of charging points from 12 to 24, the Salzgitter plant to 36, the Kassel site to 40 and the Braunschweig factory to 16 charging points.
