Bentley to bring Bentayga PHEV to Geneva
Bentley will present the plug-in hybrid version of its Bentayga SUV this March at the Geneva Auto Show. On sale is set for the second half of 2018.
First spy shots had caught the Bentley PHEV testing last summer and so the version to go on display on Geneva will be production ready. The plug-in hybrid drive is on loan from Porsche’s Panamera E-Hybrid most likely, meaning a V6 and an electric motor work in unison to deliver 462 hp in total.
Range is given at 50 kilometres, in theory at least. For a pure electric Bentley, the wait will be longer. There had been talk recently to, again, utilise Porsche technology to come up with an EV under the British roof but this will not happen before 2021 and only after the Mission E is out (we reported).
But back to the PHEV – Bentley did say previously that they would electrify across the board so the Bentayga is just the start of a range of plug-in hybrid models.
