FEV extends battery test centre close to Paris
International engineering service provider FEV – based in Aachen, Germany – kicked off the extension of its test centre close to Paris. Before the year’s end, the facility shall be put into operation.
The 600 sqm building will host among others four walk-in chambers to test big traction batteries, four battery-pack chambers with a test capacity of up to 1,200 V and up to 300 testing channels for battery cells and modules.
FEV is offering development and testing services for advanced, high-voltage battery systems. The group runs 40 high-tech development centres on four continents. Until today, FEV completed approximately 50 battery development projects, mostly in cooperation with OEMs. Just recently, FEV took over battery development specialist EVA Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH.
Regarding the extension of the centre in Paris, Professor Stefan Pischinger, President and CEO of FEV states: “We are confident that this test center is a future-proof expansion of our capacities and will meet battery development needs for many years”. In a next step, the group plans major expansions in China.
