NGK Spark Plug to develop solid-state batteries

Japanese supplier NGK Spark Plug is known to be the biggest global player in the spark plug market, but obviously seeks to enter now also the battery business, according to “Reuters”.

Thus, due to its experience in using industrial ceramics, NGK started to develop solid-state batteries for EVs. The company’s aim is to create units that reach the performance of current li-ion cells by 2020 and to make them more efficient, lighter and cheaper to produce afterwards.
