EU wants all properties to include EV charging from 2025
A law has been proposed in the European Parliament that wants all buildings with more than ten parking spots to include at least one EV charging opportunity.
If the draft makes it through the new round of negotiations between the commission, parliament and member states that start next month, it would be an extension of an existing proposal. The initial draft called only for new and refurbished buildings to accommodate for electric car charging at every ten parking lots (we reported). However, the new rule would accelerate the installation of charging infrastructure significantly, given that it would require most hotels, offices, or apartment buildings to retrofit their premises with EV charging stations.
