First external clients able to configurate their Model 3

Tesla has opened its order books officially so that reservation holders may now configure and book their Model 3. Before, this was a privilege reserved for Tesla employees only.

As a guide, the EV maker operates along a delivery date before the year’s end, at least if you are based in California. Otherwise, the first quarter of 2018 seems a more realistic timeline and also, with the new Roadster in the pipeline for 2020, some may even consider a longer wait.

Currently, it is unclear how many Model 3 units have been produced up to now. The latest quarterly figures published earlier this month showed a rather disappointing result: To that time, just 260 models had been produced due to a production “bottleneck”.
