Electric buses for Barcelona and Madrid: Spanish manufacturer Irizar has been chosen to supply Madrid’s first fleet of 15 electric buses. The 12 metres vehicles are equipped with 376 kWh batteries and shall hit the capital’s road by December, together with 15 new 100 kW quick charging stations. Also the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport ordered four articulated buses from Irizar. The electrified quartet shall be delivered by June 2018.

Autonomous shuttles in Tallinn: Estonia’s capital currently sees a trial with autonomous electric mini buses. Until the end of August, two driverless shuttles with space for 8 passengers each, are rolling between Mere Avenue and the Tallinn Creative Hub. While their use is free of charge, the pilot project itself costs around 100,000 euros of which two-thirds are covered by partners from the private sector.

New charging stations for Bangalore: As part of India’s FAME scheme, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles has installed 25 charging stations at six different locations in Bangalore in India’s South West. Further charging network projects in Delhi and other cities have been approved, too.
